Design the Future Workplace Competition (2021)
Design the Future Workplace Competition - 2nd place (15-18 age category)
In 2021, during Sixth Form, I entered a competition run by the Cambridge Independent, COEL, Bidwells, Allia Future Business Centre and Cambridge Science Centre on imagining how the future workplace could look.
Below is my submitted design and intention, which was awarded 2nd place in the 15-18 age category and was featured in the Cambridge Independent.
INTENTION
The future of the fashion design studio could see technology being utilised to conceptualise garments in a more spatial manner. By using virtual reality, the designer can manipulate simulated fabrics in the air before them. These 3D models could then be sent digitally for clients to review. Artificial intelligence could be used to generate pattern pieces in the most efficient configuration, reducing the wastage of fabric, and additionally cater to different body sizes. A holographic screen would display mood boards and sketches, immersing the designer in 360 degrees to stimulate their creative process.
